In 2002, the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame and Museum opened its doors with the pioneer class of inductees. It has become a premiere tourist attraction for both music fans and history lovers. Built in 1945, the entrance to the museum is unique to any other museum as it was once the original riding stables of John Lair, founder of Renfro Valley Entertainment Center. The museum is filled with a collection of artifacts and memorabilia highlighting the careers of our inductees, as well as temporary exhibits on display.

Music of all genres, not just country and bluegrass, are on display throughout the museum. You can learn more about the history of Kentucky’s rich music heritage, as well as interact with the instruments to create your own sound.

Events are held in the lobby of the museum barn, including singer-songwriter series. A large gift shop with assorted music instruments, accessories, as well as Kentucky products are available for purchase to take home a souvenir.

Mt. Vernon-Rockcastle County Tourist Commission owns the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame & Museum, as well as several notable historic properties nearby. Behind the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame and Museum is the outdoor amphitheater where concerts take place on the wooden stage. The original John Lair House sits next door and is available for rentals. Nearby is the Aunt Polly House, which is a 2-story cabin, as well as the Bittersweet Cabin Village.

While it was once connected with John Lair鈥檚 barn and home, the Renfro Valley Entertainment Center next door is privately owned and operated by the Enneking Family. They host concerts throughout the year in both the New Barn and Old Barn Theater.

Kentucky Music Hall of Fame and Museum is open to visitors daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM year-round. We are closed on New Year鈥檚 Eve, New Year鈥檚 Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
